Skandia Squad 2005 announced!
After receiving some outstanding entries, today five lucky crews have been chosen to represent Skandia’s core values during SGW 2005. Thank you to all those who took the time to enter!
Congratulations to the following who will form the Skandia Squad 2005!
Contribution: Hollywood Boulevard – Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, NSW. Previous winner of the ‘Scotchmans Hill Series” “In the sport of yacht racing ‘everyone’ has to make a contribution”.
Creativity – Outlaw – Black Rock Yacht Club, VIC. “My boat builder and I have been beyond 'creative' with my boat enabling it to fly above the water using hydrofoils”.
Passion – Vapour Trail – Sandringham Yacht Club, VIC. “Of all the qualities, I think it’s passion that brings everything together and makes us so successful”
Courage – Koomooloo – Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, QLD. “Koomooloo is one yacht that has probably seen it all! If seven Sydney to Hobart’s and two Admirals Cup’s aren’t enough then thousands of cruising and further racing miles would do it!:
Commitment – Another Girl Another Planet – Port Dalrymple Yacht Club, TAS. “We have only missed one year of this fabulous regatta and the crew does not hesitate when it comes to arranging time off work, sharing transport and accommodation costs (not easy or cheap from Tassie and all done without sponsorship) as well as preparing the boat”
The five winners will have the opportunity of a lifetime as they experience a six-day sponsorship from Skandia, becoming high profile entries in Skandia Geelong Week! Winners will receive: free entry to the regatta, Henri Lloyd crew clothing, invitations to Skandia prize giving functions and Skandia branding for their yacht.
SGW 2004 squad members will also have access to international Skandia Set Sail personalities Sam Davies, Iain Percy and Steve Mitchell.
Stay tuned for further Skandia Squad news in early January!
